Technological Environmental Improvement and Innovation
Example of innovative - Re-use of the materials: about six pounds of potassium permanganate came back from Denver. The stuff was old and we didn't want to trust it as a reagent for measuring microgram quantities of metals. Therefore, it was disposed of using Chemical Analytics, Inc. who a deal with a farmer in Michigan that has a low amount of potassium in his soil. The potassium permanganate is rendered neutral in solution and mixed with ammonia as a fertilizer for the farmer. (The manganese is also a soil additive).
Example of innovative - Toxic Elimination: CleanAir has also switched to a different type of Orsat Chemicals, which is now manufacturing by the CleanAir Laboratory Services Team. There is no chromium in the solutions and once spent, they are innocuous and can be dumped down the drain. Thus, we have eliminated one source of the listed wastes.
