Dumpster pad and fence specification

Sketch layout with short spec.

Provide a bumper curb (3-4 inches) on 3 sides so Dumpsters will not hit building or fence. Provide small gap in curb at lower corner to drain. Curb can be poured concrete (preferred) or lagged in pre-cast concrete curb.

Set posts in concrete footings that are at least 42 inches deep. Prevent water from entering post from bottom of footing by ensuring at least 12 inches of concrete below post.

Install 6 foot cedar fence such that wood is about 3 inches above pad.

Slope away from building about 1/2 inch in 20 feet.

Get village permit

Use as little water as possible when mixing concrete. Trowel to a better finish than existing pad.

Buy and install cedar single board fence.

Use a non swivel caster on larger door.

Buy and install gate latch that can be pad locked.

Cover concrete with plastic for 48 hours after finishing.

Install groove in concrete about every 6-8 feet east to west. Dumpster wheels should not get stuck in grooves.

Glue caps on posts using silicone caulk

Have Palatine Village inspector inspect

Pass inspection.

Seal with Thompson concrete sealer after 2 months.
