Lab Technician - Part-time

Our Palatine air lab analysis’s air emission sample using, IC, GC, FTIR, wet chemistry, gravimetric, particle size, resistivity methods. We specialize in small runs and non-routine analysis. Work and hours can vary from week to week. Experience with EPA methods not necessary. Ability to continually learn and apply new knowledge essential.

Engineers and Chemists

Our offices in Illinois, Texas and Pennsylvania are recruiting students for internships and cooperative programs to work with our air emission sample teams. These multi-disciplined teams include engineers, chemists and technicians that audit industrial air emissions worldwide. We are looking for several students to learn and perform EPA air emissions measurements using Continuous Emission Monitors (CEM), Gas Chromotology (GC), Forrier Transform-Infra Red (FT-IR) and wet chemistry. We quantify acid rain precursors, organics, metals, and other particulate using grab samples and/or continuous monitoring. Skills or interests should include analyzer setup, analyzer trouble shooting, data acquisition automation, calibration, database design and spreadsheet setup for reporting of results. Experience with or knowledge of EPA methods not necessary. Ability to continually learn and apply new knowledge essential. This work is hands-on multitasking, often requiring physical labor and long hours in hot process plants or on stacks. Students will generally visit two or more industrial plants each month. Students will be expected to learn and demonstrate a working knowledge of each type of industry they visit by developing a hyperlinked or multimedia training document on the industrial process. Each student will be assigned a mentor to facilitate learning and increased value for both student and our customers.
