Julien Brongniart julienbron@free.fr 8 May 2003 Dear Julien, We look for students interested in learning and performing air emissions measurements using Continuous Emission Monitors (CEM), Gas Chromatography (GC), Fourier Transform-Infra Red (FT-IR), and wet chemistry. We quantify acid rain precursors, organics, metals, and particulate emissions using grab samples and/or continuous monitoring. The work includes instrument setup, instrument troubleshooting, data acquisition automation, equipment calibration, database design and data reporting. Students will generally visit one or more industrial plants each month. The work is challenging, often requiring
physical labor in process facilities or outdoors climbing of emission stacks.
Each student will be assigned a Clean Air mentor for the duration of the
internship. After initial training, students will be expected to demonstrate
a working knowledge of the air quality requirements for each visited facility,
and will develop a training document focusing on an industrial process.
This is an opportunity to gain experience in environmental measurement
and air emission control system engineering. Julien, you will initially be assigned to our company leadership team which we designate Team 90. This team also initiates our new business ventures, forms partnerships with other organizations and provides assistance to startup teams and other teams with new initiatives. Some of the possible projects are large
engine testing, instrument automation, rental software deployment and continuous
stack flow monitor product support and CE mark certification.
