FAQs & Troubleshooting

You've just downloaded tons of duplicate email

There are a variety of reasons your Outlook may download duplicate copies of recent email...
  • This FAQ assumes the original copy of the email has been read & the new copies are all unread....
  • Sort these unread copies out & delete the unread copies.
  • To separate the unread copies, go to View: Arrange By: Current View: Unread Messages in this Folder
  • Delete, Delete, Delete, etc...   (shift click to select many emails at once & hit the delete key)
  • NOTE: it's probably a good idea to not delete the last day or so of duplicates (and instead go through these most recent ones manually as a precaution)

K: drive login problems

Start: Run -- type "CMD" and you'll get a "DOS" window (the command prompt window) ...Type the following:
NET USE * /DELETE
Answer yes (Y) to confirm (may need to confirm twice)
Reboot
Double Click the CleanAir-FileServer.exe program and enter ID & Password
If it asks "Check username and password" click OK and click Login AGAIN (don't bother to reenter your password)
...this double request issue often happens due to a network delay (usually the delay over the internet between the offices)

Can't log into forum after installing Google Accelerator

You can log into forum.cleanair.com on other computers (without Google Accelerator) but you've installed Google Accelerator and now it just keeps asking you for your password
Go to google accelerator preferences/settings and at the bottom of the settings page, you can add "forum.cleanair.com" (without the quotes) to the Don't Accelerate List
You may need to quit IE after saving the Google accelerator settings

Micro Adjustments to an HP 4250 Printer

Browse to the printer's web address (look on IT page for printer web addresses)
Go to Settings (top tab): Configure Device (side menu): Configure Device (blue menu in center of page): Print Quality: Set Registration: Adjust Tray (1, 2 or 3) (tray 1 is manual feed)
Figuring out the X1/X2/Y shift is essentially trial & error.
Set these settings back to 0 when you're done with the project or form you are working on

Excel v PDF  (old info - service pack updates & acrobat updates may have fixed this issue)

When making PDF documents from Excel, you will often have a problem with the bottom half (or right side) partially cut off in the final PDF document.
This FAQ explains two methods for dealing with this problem.
One time fix
1. File: Print (to Adobe PDF printer).
2. In the Print dialog box, click "Properties".
3. In the "Adobe PDF Document Properties" window,
go to the "Layout" tab and click the "Advanced" button.
4. Change the Print Quality to 300 (or 600) dpi
(you'll need to do this every time you run into this problem
since their isn't any way to change the PDF Writer defaults)...
Permanent fix
Basically,
You're going to change the Adobe PDF printer driver to a printer driver with a lower default resolution
(I know that changing the printer driver to something else seems ridiculous, but it works).
1. Go to "Start Menu: Settings: Printers"  and Right-Click on the "Adobe PDF" printer and select "Properties".
2. Select the "Advanced" tab
3. You'll see a pop-up menu selector for "Driver".
It's set to "Adobe PDF Converter" by default.
Click the "New Driver" button (and then "Next" in the "Add Printer Driver Wizard")
and select "HP" from the list on the left and then select the "HP LaserJet 4050 Series PS" driver
(Make sure you pick the PS version and not the PCL version).  Click Next and finish.
4. Close the Properties dialog box and test it out...
This will work with ?any? ?good? PostScript (PS) printer driver.
It will NOT work with any PCL driver (drivers that don't specify PS are almost always PCL).
We may find out over time that the HP 4050 PS driver isn't the best choice,
but it works fine in my preliminary tests so I'd suggest we standardize on this for now.
NOTE: there may be some side effects to this "change the driver" fix.
For example, the default Save PDF File name seems be wrong (so you have to type in the correct file name every time).
